Container sizes and types
In depot work, “format” summarizes length, height, and equipment type. ContainerHub captures these on Gate In, imports, and container records for inventory, inspection, and stacking.
Common sizes
| Term | Brief description |
|---|---|
| 20' | Twenty-foot general or other type |
| 40' | Standard forty-foot |
| 40' HC | High cube (extra internal height) |
| 45' | Extended length when you operate them |
Size affects slot choice, ground weight limits, and—with stacking rules—yard position.
Types (examples)
- Dry — General dry van.
- Reefer — Temperature controlled; often dedicated yard zones.
- Open Top / Flat Rack / Tank — Per your safety and ops rules.
ISO code
The ISO field (e.g. 22G1) encodes size/type per ISO 6346. Optional on Gate but useful for EDI and line alignment.
