Gate In and Gate Out

The Gate In/Out module digitizes the EIR (Equipment Interchange Receipt) and records container entry and exit at the depot. Data is centralized and feeds inventory, inspections, and reports.

Digital EIR

Instead of paper EIR, ContainerHub captures standard fields in digital forms: client, container, location, truck data, optional photos. Everything is tied to the move for traceability.

Gate In — step by step

  1. Client (clientId) — Shipping line or account that owns the unit.
  2. Container number (containerNumber) — ISO 6346 (e.g. ABCD1234567).
  3. Size (size) — 20', 40', 40' HC, 45', etc.
  4. Type (type) — Dry, Reefer, Open Top, Flat Rack, Tank, High Cube, etc.
  5. Destination location (locationId) — Optional slot when yard locations exist.
  6. ISO code (isoCode) — Optional (e.g. 22G1).
  7. Shipping line (shippingLine) — Optional (e.g. MSC, Maersk).
  8. Truck plate (chassisNumber) — Optional.
  9. Carrier (truckCompany) — Optional.
  10. Upload photos if needed and submit.

Gate Out — step by step

  1. Container (containerId) — Select the in-yard unit leaving.
  2. Release (optional) — Link an authorized pick-up order; the release moves to partial or closed as units leave.
  3. Destination (destination) — Optional (port, client, etc.).
  4. Upload photos if needed and submit.

The container moves to GATED_OUT and leaves active inventory.

When the move is saved, the client may receive an email notification (if email is set, transactional emails are enabled, and outbound is LIVE). That is separate from the gate pass QR tied to an appointment.

EIR PDF

After Gate In or Gate Out you can generate an EIR PDF from the move. ContainerHub uses the correct turn-in vs release reference for each direction without cross-fallback.

FAQ

Can I Gate In without yard locations?

Yes. Gate In works without a yard map; the slot selector appears only when YardLocation records exist. You can add the yard map later.

What if the container already exists?

ContainerHub attaches the move to an existing container when the number matches.

Does digital EIR replace paper?

The captured data is the operational record of interchange; attached photos add evidence.

Gate Out while in repair?

Gate Out applies to units in yard. If status is IN_REPAIR, complete or close the repair per your process before out-gating.
